Overview
Fiveish is a mastery-based practice platform for AP students and their teachers. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your information.
The short version: We collect the minimum data necessary to run the platform — names, emails, assignment scores, and (optionally) Google Classroom roster data. We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for any purpose beyond operating and improving Fiveish.
By using Fiveish, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the service.
02
Who We Are
Fiveish is operated by an individual developer. References to "Fiveish," "we," "us," or "our" in this policy refer to that individual.
Assignment titles, topics, and due dates created by teachers
Student scores, attempt counts, and mastery progress on assignments
Individual question responses (which answer was chosen, whether it was correct) for analytics
Class membership (which students are in which class)
Payment Data
If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed through a third-party provider. We store only your subscription status (trial, active, or revoked) — we do not store your card number, billing address, or other payment details directly.
Usage Data
Browser type, device type, and general location (country/region) from server logs
Pages visited and features used within the app
We do not collect social security numbers, government IDs, health information, or any sensitive personal data.
04
Google Classroom Data
Teachers may optionally connect their Google Classroom account to Fiveish to import class rosters and sync grades. This connection is entirely optional. If you do not connect Google Classroom, this section does not apply to you.
When a teacher authorizes the Google Classroom integration, Fiveish requests access to the following Google data:
Course list — the names and IDs of the teacher's active Classroom courses, so they can select which course to link
Student roster — the names and email addresses of students enrolled in the linked course
Student profiles — email addresses used to match Fiveish scores to Classroom submissions when syncing grades
Coursework — the ability to create assignments and post grades to student submissions in the linked course
Fiveish's use of Google user data is limited to the following: operating the Classroom sync feature the teacher explicitly requested. We do not use Google data to serve advertising, profile users, or share data with third parties. Our use complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Google Classroom access tokens are stored only in the teacher's browser session (sessionStorage) and are never transmitted to or stored on Fiveish servers. Roster data (names and emails) is stored in Fiveish's database solely to enable assignment delivery and grade syncing for that class. Teachers can delete a class and its associated roster at any time from the Classes tab.
05
How We Use Your Data
We use the data we collect for these purposes only:
To authenticate you and maintain your session
To display assignments, scores, and progress to the appropriate teacher or student
To generate class-level and question-level analytics for teachers
To sync assignments and grades with Google Classroom (only when explicitly enabled by the teacher)
To manage teacher subscriptions and trial status
To send transactional emails (e.g. account notices) — we do not send marketing emails
To diagnose bugs and improve the platform
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose not listed above.
06
Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. We share data only in these limited circumstances:
Service Providers — We use the following sub-processors to operate the platform:
Google Firebase / Firestore — database and authentication
Google Cloud — hosting infrastructure
Payment processor — subscription billing (card data never touches our servers)
Each sub-processor is bound by data processing agreements and handles data only as directed by us.
Legal Requirements — We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of users or the public.
Business Transfer — If Fiveish is acquired or merged, user data may be transferred as part of that transaction. You will be notified in advance if this occurs.
Outside of the above, your data is not shared with any third party.
07
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service.
Teachers can delete individual classes, assignments, and student rosters at any time from the dashboard
Students are removed from a class roster when a teacher deletes the class
If you want your account and all associated data deleted, email us at getfiveish@gmail.com and we will process the deletion within 30 days
08
Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:
All data transmitted over HTTPS/TLS
Authentication handled by Google Firebase Auth
Firestore security rules that restrict access to authorized users only
Google OAuth tokens stored only in the browser session, never on our servers
No system is completely secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately at getfiveish@gmail.com.
09
Children's Privacy (COPPA)
Fiveish is designed for high school students (typically ages 14–18) using the platform under the supervision of their teacher. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.
Student accounts are created through class enrollment initiated by a teacher, not directly by the student. Teachers are responsible for ensuring that any student they enroll has appropriate authorization to use the service.
If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 without proper authorization, we will delete it promptly. Contact us at getfiveish@gmail.com if you have concerns.
10
Your Rights
Depending on where you are located, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
Correction — request correction of inaccurate data
Deletion — request deletion of your data (see Retention above)
Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format
Objection — object to certain types of processing
To exercise any of these rights, email getfiveish@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify active teachers by email.
Your continued use of Fiveish after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
